Aub Goodwin and Pat Kenny joined forces in November 1962 to commence trading as Goodwin Kenny - the partnership continued until both retired and handed over the business to the next generation.

Susan Goodwin came to Tamworth in 1983. She met Peter Goodwin in 1985 and they were married in 1987. Susan assumed the role of Administration Manager in 1988 following the retirement of Peter's mother, Joyce (after 26 years). Susan has over the last 23 years co-managed the company with Peter Goodwin. Following Peter's passing in May 2010 Susan is now the Company Director and Manager at Tamworth.

Peter Kenny commenced his employment with Goodwin Kenny in 1979 as a 16 year old mechanical Apprentice. After completing his Apprenticeship Peter trained as a Junior Spare Parts Assistant before taking on the Parts Manager's role. Peter then transitioned to Machine Sales. Following Pat's retirement in 2001 Peter assumed the role of Company Director, Gunnedah branch manager and Sales Manager.

Mark Kenny also commenced his employment with Goodwin Kenny in 1979 as a 17 year old Mechanical Apprentice. After completing his Apprenticeship Mark spent many years working on Versatile, Massey Ferguson, Fiat, Ford and New Holland tractors and combine harvesters. More recently Mark has assumed the role of Spare Parts Manager at the Gunnedah Branch.

Today, Goodwin Kenny Pty Ltd is a New Holland dealer selling a more technologically advanced range of farming equipment in the Tamworth, Gunnedah and Armidale areas. As farming practices change and as the weather continues to dictate the outcome of each year's productivity we have found there is a constant need to provide our customers with the best possible advice and service.

To achieve this we have invested a good deal of time and money in Staff Training. Our mechanics attend a range of courses at new Holland's purpose built Training Centre at St Mary's to keep them abreast of the latest products and technology. Many members of our staff have also completed Air Conditioning Training and havae gained their Air Conditioning Licences.

Upon the sale and delivery of a new machine, whether it be a Tractor, Baler or Mower Conditioner, one of our Service Technicians and the Salesman carry out a thorough installation and induction of the machine to ensure that the new owner is fully competent in its operation and use. We have received many comments from new owners that our induction is the best installation that they have ever received when taking delivery of a new piece of equipment and that they feel their confidence and knowledge about the new machine has been enhanced.

In Spare Parts our Interpreters are able to provide "intelligent" assistance to our customers and procure parts via the use of computer programs and links to many of our suppliers. As we are providing parts for many machines that range in age from the most modern machinery to some that would almost qualify as antiques we need to have these tools, and sometimes a very good memory comes in handy. Our customers always are greeted with a smile and enjoy our friendly service.

Our customer service also involves our Website www.goodwinkenny.com.au that is constantly updated with News, Specials and our full range of Used Equipment. This allows our customers to keep up-to-date after hours.

We also produce a Monthly Newsletter which keeps our customers informed about what is happening in the branches, new products, Parts Specials, seasonal updates, staff news and, as always, some "good humour".

During our 50 years in business Goodwin Kenny has employed four Goodwins and five Kennys, and our extended family currently sees 25 people employed in Sales, Service, Spare Parts and Administration. We have many staff members that have been with the company for a long time and this enhances our customer service and sees continuity of service, sometimes over two generations of customers.
